I recently took a Vitess bike for a spin and was completely impressed. When I say spin, I actually mean an extended week-end. Julien was kind enough to lend it to me for 5 days and I took the opportunity to compare it ride for ride to my current bike.

I love riding; I dream of riding and I’m at my happiest when on my bike. I ride 2-3 times through the week, and twice on the week-ends. That being said I am in no way a gear-head. I ride an Aluminium Oryx with full Shimano 105 group and Shimano rims. Not sure of the model, like I said I’m not a gear-head.

Riding the Vitess bike was like night and day compared to my current bike. It seemed to leap forward with every pedal stroke and jumped up the hills. The acceleration was amazing and the ride was very smooth, yet responsive. I was very comfortable on the bike, yet when in the drops I felt very aggressive.

The toughest part about the extended test ride was giving the bike back knowing I’m months away purchasing. It’s going to be a long summer!
